Frequently asked questions

How do I create a waveform image from an audio file?

Drop your audio file onto the upload area. The tool decodes it in your browser, extracts amplitude data, and renders a waveform visualization. Customize the style, colors, and size, then download as PNG or SVG.

Can I make a gradient waveform?

Yes. Switch from Solid to Gradient fill mode, pick your colors and adjust the angle. There are also preset gradients (Fire, Aqua, Purple, Warm) you can apply with one click. Multi-stop gradients blend across the waveform for a polished look.

Can I create a circular waveform?

Yes. Select the Circular style to generate a radial waveform where bars radiate outward from the center. This works well for album art, profile images, and logo backgrounds.

Can I export as SVG for vector editing?

Yes. Click the SVG button to download a true vector file with real path data (rect and polyline elements, not embedded bitmaps). The SVG is fully editable in Illustrator, Figma, or any vector editor and scales to any size without quality loss.

Can I add a background image behind the waveform?

Yes. Click Add Image in the Background panel to upload a photo. The waveform overlays on top of it. This is popular for wedding song waveforms, concert photo art, and personalized audio gifts.

Can I download a transparent PNG waveform?

Yes. Check the Transparent box in the Background panel. The exported PNG will have a transparent background so you can layer it over your own designs in Canva, Figma, Photoshop, or any other editor.

What waveform styles are available?

Six styles: Bars (sharp rectangles), Rounded (bars with rounded corners), Mirrored (bars reflected above and below center), Lines (smooth connected line), Lines Mirrored (reflected lines), and Circular (radial bars around a center point). Each style responds to the same color and size settings.

What size should I use for Instagram, TikTok, or YouTube?

Use the preset buttons: Instagram is 1080x1080 (square), Reels/TikTok is 1080x1920 (9:16 vertical), YouTube is 1920x1080 (16:9 horizontal). Social OG (1200x630) works for link previews on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn. For print, use 3600x3600 at 300 DPI.

Can I add text to the waveform image?

Yes. Enable the Text Overlay panel, type your text (song title, artist name, date), choose the font size, color, and position (top, center, or bottom). The text renders directly on the image and is included in both PNG and SVG exports.

Can I export a waveform video with audio?

Yes. Switch to the Video tab, pick a format (MP4 or WebM), and choose Fast (pre-computed) or Realtime (pixel-perfect). The exported video includes your audio synced to the animated waveform. MP4 uses H.264 and requires a browser with VideoEncoder support (Chrome, Edge). WebM works in all modern browsers.

Does this tool upload my audio to a server?

No. Your audio file is decoded in the browser to extract amplitude data. The file never leaves your device. No account, no upload, no watermark.

Can I use this for podcast cover art or thumbnails?

Yes. Upload your podcast audio, choose a style and colors that match your brand, set the size to 1080x1080 or 1200x630, and download. The waveform makes a unique visual representation of each episode.

Is there a watermark on the exported image?

No. The exported PNG and SVG files have no watermark, no branding, and no restrictions. The image is yours to use however you want.
