How do I convert stereo audio to mono?
Upload your stereo audio file and select To Mono mode. The tool averages the left and right channels into a single mono channel. Download the result as WAV.
How do I convert mono audio to stereo?
Upload your mono audio file and select To Stereo mode. The tool duplicates the mono channel to both left and right, creating a stereo file. The sound will be centered.
What is stereo widening?
Stereo widening uses mid-side processing to enhance the stereo field. Width at 100% is the original. Below 100% narrows toward mono. Above 100% exaggerates the stereo separation for a wider, more spacious sound.
When should I convert to mono?
Convert to mono when your audio will be played through a single speaker, when you want to reduce file size, or when you need compatibility with mono playback systems like PA speakers or phone calls.
Does this upload my audio to a server?
No. Channel conversion uses the Web Audio API's ChannelMergerNode and ChannelSplitterNode locally. Your file stays in browser memory throughout.
Why does a stereo file converted to mono sometimes sound different?
When left and right channels have equal signals, mono averaging works cleanly. When they have opposite-polarity content (phase-cancellation from stereo mic techniques), summing to mono can reduce or eliminate certain frequencies. Preview before downloading to catch any cancellation issues.
